The Newsroom Sessions

Folk singer-songwriter John Gorka played Oct 23, 2014 at "One Longfellow Square" in Portland at 7 p.m. He stopped by a couple of hours before for a Newsroom Session.

John played the title track of his new record “Bright Side of Down” and the classic tune “I Saw a Stranger With Your Hair.”

Recorded in the Portland Press Herald newsroom...

Singer-songwriter John Gorka with his incredible baritone voice and songwriting precision has been killing me for a long, long time, dating back to my years in Keene, NH during and after college. I haven’t seen him live in at least a dozen years and the wait continues because my dance card is full with Natalie Merchant on Thursday, October 23 down the street at The State Theatre. But YOU should go see Gorka play, especially if you’re unfamiliar with him or have never seen him live.

I don’t mean to sound like the total music dork that I am, but Gorka’s music is truly something special. The show is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 23.
